President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated the Islamic Ummah must unite under Saudi leadership to bring about meaningful change on the Palestinian issue.
In his address at the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the President highlighted the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian and Lebanese people, emphasising the violence inflicted by Israeli occupation forces is not a new development, but a long-standing crisis. The president added the story of the injuries and suffering of the Palestinian people due to Israel’s extreme and ruthless actions is a tale that has continued for many years. He also referenced the staggering loss of life, noting that over half a million Palestinians have been killed in the past year alone.
Despite decades of international condemnation and advocacy for Palestinians, the President remarked that little progress has been made in resolving the issue, with authorities failing to take meaningful action. He pointed out that Israel has exploited the silence or inaction of global powers to escalate its attacks on the Palestinian people.
President Muizzu strongly criticised the actions of influential countries, stating that they do not value Palestinian lives. He also condemned the United Nations for allowing its veto power to obstruct efforts to support the Palestinian cause, which he described as a failure by the international community and its influential parties. While acknowledging that many countries have recognised Palestine as a state, the President stressed the need for the international community to offer both political and financial support.
The President concluded by praising Saudi Arabia for its leadership in championing the cause of the Palestinian people, calling on the Islamic Ummah to work together under Saudi leadership to achieve concrete results for Palestine.
