First Lady says a new era for nationalism begins

The First Lady of the Maldives Sajidha Mohamed has proclaimed the inauguration of the Dhivehi Gaumiyyathuge Isvaruge Office as a pivotal moment in fostering national consciousness and strengthening awareness of nationalism.

In her address at the opening ceremony, the First Lady underscored the office’s role in inspiring innovative ideas and shaping a brighter future. She characterised the revival of nationalism as deeply intertwined with the Islamic faith, the Dhivehi language, cultural heritage, and shared traditions. She further highlighted that nationalism, firmly rooted in Islamic principles, is crucial for the nation’s survival and prosperity.

The First Lady also emphasised the significance of aligning national identity with the Maldives' core beliefs and values. She called for the nurturing of a generation that honours the nation’s culture and traditions. Speaking from her perspective as a mother, she expressed pride and hope in the office’s potential to cultivate intellectuals dedicated to the well-being of the nation.

The launch of the Dhivehi Gaumiyyathuge Isvaruge Office symbolises a renewed commitment to national pride and unity. The inauguration coincided with the first anniversary of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s administration. The First Lady expressed her confidence that the establishment of the office would serve as a cornerstone in advancing the nation’s nationalist agenda.

During the ceremony, the First Lady also unveiled Khidhumathuge 52 Hafthaa Foiyy, a comprehensive review of the government’s services and achievements during the first year of President Muizzu’s tenure.
