Gov’t completes 93 percent of pay harmonisation for state employees

Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises, Moosa Zameer has said the government has finished the pay harmonisation process for 93 percent of state employees.

Speaking at a press conference held at the President’s Office, the minister said the government has instructed that the remaining percentage to be completed as soon as possible. Final preparations are already underway, he said.

The National Pay Framework aims to standardise salaries and allowances across all government agencies. The new system is designed to reduce reliance on overtime pay, encourage efficient working hours, and improve productivity. It aims to improve incomes, promote work-life balance, and support a healthier society, the ministry said.

Over 20,000 government employees will see positive changes under the new pay framework.

The ministry said if an employee’s salary decreases after the change due to migration, they will receive a migration allowance to compensate, in line with the relevant guidelines.
