PNC outlines plans to strengthen organisational framework

The People’s National Congress (PNC) has announced plans to further enhance its organisational structure by integrating newly elected members into its management framework. The announcement follows the successful conclusion of the largest internal election ever conducted by a political party in the Maldives, during which 1,984 positions were filled. These include constituency presidents, vice-presidents, youth and women’s movement leaders, and general members of steering committees.

Speaking at a press conference to share the election results, PNC Chairman and Parliamentary Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla highlighted the significant strengthening of the party’s management structure. He noted that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had provided clear guidance on electing competent individuals to key leadership roles and establishing steering committees at the island level.

Abdul Raheem further elaborated on the party’s strategy to establish a steering committee on every inhabited island in the Maldives. This initiative also includes appointing presidents for the youth and women’s movements, which he described as pivotal steps towards reinforcing the party’s operations and bolstering its governance capacity.

With aspirations to become the largest political party in the Maldives, the PNC is actively expanding its membership base and increasing its influence nationwide.
