The Parliament has confirmed the appointment of Mohamed Mujuthaz to the Civil Service Commission (CSC). This decision follows a review by the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions, which assessed the nomination submitted by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and endorsed Mujuthaz for the role.
The vacancy within the CSC arose on 11 March, triggered by the resignation of Ibrahim Rasheed. His departure came amidst proceedings initiated by the same parliamentary committee, which had sought his removal over allegations of irregularities in employee recruitment and other misconduct.
Following Rasheed's resignation, the President's Office announced the opening for applications to the commission on 12 March. President Dr Muizzu, adhering to established protocols for appointing members to independent institutions, selected nominees from the pool of applicants and formally presented Mujuthaz's candidacy to parliament.
Mujuthaz, a former Member of Parliament representing the Hanimaadhoo constituency, secured unanimous approval from the 71 lawmakers present and voting during Wednesday's parliamentary sitting. His appointment completes the composition of the CSC, which now comprises its President, Mohamed Nasih, alongside members Mohamed Farshath, Fathimath Shareef, and Fathimath Habeeba.
