President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Sunday urged everyone to avoid allowing divisions and political opportunism to influence concerns of youth and sow discord in society.
The President was referring to the ongoing nightly youth-led protests raising concerns over the Police investigation into the tragic fall of a young woman from the ninth floor of a building in capital Male’ on 18 April.
In an interview with PSM News at Velana International Airport (VIA), prior to departing on his official visit to Malaysia on Sunday, President Dr Muizzu reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the voices of youth are heard.
The President reaffirmed his administration's unwavering focus on equity, highlighting its determination to prioritise justice without distinction. He rejected cruelty or partiality, underscoring his resolve to uncover the truth surrounding the 18 April incident. He underscored that no individual holds greater importance to him than the pursuit of justice.
Addressing the sentiments of the youth, the President urged everyone to avoid allowing divisions and political opportunism to influence these concerns or sow discord in society.
He affirmed that his highest priority is to uphold the trust and confidence the public has placed in him, emphasising that he remains uninfluenced by any individual. He further stated that the Administration is both accountable and responsive to public concerns.
He reminded citizens that safeguarding peace is the responsibility of each and every individual.
