Women Are the Pillars of Resilient Communities, Cities Minister Has Affirmed

Women are the cornerstone of resilient and flourishing communities, according to Adam Shareef Umar, Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works, who underscored their indispensable role in fostering familial strength and societal cohesion. He made this remark addressing the opening session of a consultative workshop titled 'Anhenveringe Sallaa'.

The ceremony, inaugurated by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, highlighted the critical interplay between strong families and thriving societies. Minister Shareef framed women as pivotal figures in nurturing these connections. He described their role as integral to individual growth and collective progress, stating, women are the true architects behind the construction of strong societies and resilient, thriving communities.

Building on this recognition, the minister turned his attention to the wider impact of women on the nation's development. He offered particular praise to mothers and sisters for their enduring commitment to future generations, stating, "Women deserve commendation for their role in the nation's progress—especially mothers and sisters, for their immense efforts in raising children and shaping us into strong individuals."

In the same vein, Minister Shareef acknowledged the transformative efforts of Women's Development Committees. He detailed ongoing measures to address barriers these committees face, such as legal obstacles and infrastructural limitations. With plans to complete council buildings within two years, he assured attendees that spatial constraints currently hindering their operations would be resolved.

The workshop, spanning two days and hosted at the Senior Citizens' Club, the 'Isravvehinge Naadhee', has drawn Women's Development Committees from across Kaafu, Alifu Alifu, Alifu Dhaalu, Vaavu, and Meemu Atolls, alongside representatives from Malé City.
