Moosa Zameer, Minister of Finance and Planning, met on Thursday in Beijing with Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), for high-level talks focused on infrastructure and financial cooperation aligned with the Maldives' national development agenda.

The meeting took place during Minister Zameer's official visit to China, ahead of the AIIB's 10th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors. Discussions addressed the lender's role in supporting the Maldives' economic recovery and long-range planning efforts.

In those talks, Minister Zameer highlighted the bank's contributions to national development, identifying the ongoing Waste-to-Energy project, implemented with AIIB support, as a key example of their collaboration. The two sides also considered opportunities to expand the partnership, underscoring the Maldives' aim to strengthen its multilateral development relationships.

"We discussed AIIB's support for Maldives' recovery and infrastructure development—including the Waste-to-Energy project—and explored areas for future collaboration to advance our national development goals," Minister Zameer wrote in a social media post following the meeting.
