Ministry of Islamic Affairs on Monday said it is working to translate some local laws and books from Dhivehi to Arabic, as part of its efforts to promote the use of Arabic language in the country.
Speaking to PSM News Mohamed Musthafa Ibrahim, Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs, said they are also working with the Ministry of Education to formulate a new Arabic language curriculum.
He added that they had already translated some laws relating to trade and commerce into Arabic, and written a book on the Islamic history of Maldives.
The Ministry plans to publish the book next week.
