Sri Lankan President to Visit Maldives as Nations Mark 60 Years of Ties

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka is scheduled to undertake a state visit to the Maldives from 28 to 30 July 2025, at the invitation of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, the President's Office announced on Friday.

The visit will be President Disanayaka's first to the Maldives since assuming office in September 2024. Over the course of the three-day programme, he and President Muizzu are expected to engage in formal talks, according to the President's Office, focused on strengthening cooperation in areas of shared interest.

It comes as the Maldives and Sri Lanka mark sixty years of diplomatic relations, first established on 26 July 1965. The timing of the engagement signals a reaffirmation of longstanding bilateral ties and underscores the two nations' enduring commitment to regional collaboration.
