President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday commenced a three-day official tour of the inhabited islands of Alifu Alifu Atoll, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to direct engagement with local constituencies and decentralised governance.
The itinerary includes visits to eight islands: Thoddoo, Rasdhoo, Ukulhas, Mathiveri, Bodufolhudhoo, Feridhoo, Maalhos, and Himandhoo. On each, the president is expected to convene formal meetings with island councils and women’s development committees to discuss community-specific development priorities and assess the general welfare of residents.
This tour forms part of a broader national initiative through which President Muizzu aims to visit all atolls, islands, and cities across the country. The principal objective is to establish direct dialogue with elected representatives and reinforce institutional responsiveness at the local level.
Accompanying the president are several cabinet ministers and senior officials from various state institutions.
