President Muizzu Hails Malaysia as ‘Valued Partner’ in Independence Day Tribute

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed the close and enduring ties between the Maldives and Malaysia in a message congratulating the Southeast Asian nation on the occasion of its Independence Day.

The message, shared via social media, conveyed best wishes to King Sultan Ibrahim, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the government of Malaysia, and the Malaysian people. It reflected a spirit of goodwill and underscored the strength of bilateral relations.

“Malaysia remains a valued partner and friend of the Maldives,” President Muizzu stated. “We deeply appreciate the strong connections between our governments and the people, and we hope to continue working together to strengthen our cooperation.”

Malaysia commemorates its Independence Day each year on 31 August, marking its liberation from British colonial rule in 1957. This year’s celebration marks the 68th anniversary of that historic milestone.
