Housing Ministry prepares to establish waste collection system

Housing Ministry on Saturday said it is working to acquire specialised equipment to establish a household waste collection system in Malé City.

The Ministry said it is in the process of evaluating bids for supplying equipment, and the system is expected to become operational later this month.

According to the Ministry, it would soon announce fees for garbage collection and disposal, and the amount charged from each household would be less than what they currently spend on waste disposal.
