President Muizzu Departs for Qatar for Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has departed for Qatar to participate in the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, scheduled for 15 September 2025.

During the visit, President Dr Muizzu will deliver a statement at the Summit, which has been convened in Doha to address the Israeli airstrike in Doha, Qatar of 9 September.

The President’s participation underscores the Maldives’ unwavering solidarity with Qatar and reinforces its commitment to defending the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. It also reiterates the Maldives’ call for urgent and collective international action to bring an end to the ongoing violence and atrocities committed by Israel in the region.

The Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit brings together leaders of Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at a pivotal moment for the Islamic world. It serves as a platform to amplify the united voice of the Muslim Ummah in demanding an end to the atrocities and in pursuing concrete international measures to ensure peace and security in the region.
