Waste Management Corporation Ltd. (WAMCO) on Sunday launched its “call and pick up” service, at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
Fuwad Ibrahim, Managing Director at WAMCO, said the service is a pilot project, and added that they will increase the number of hours and vehicles used to provide the service depending on the demand.
Speaking at the ceremony Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Environment and Energy, said the service is provided at a very low cost and noted the importance of such a public service.
Customers can call and book the service between 2pm and 10pm, WAMCO said. The service would be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis, it added.
According to WAMCO, it would charge a fee of MVR250 for 350 Kilogram pick up, and MVR550 for 1.5 ton. These prices are inclusive of transfer fee and MPL gate fee. The hotline for the service is 1666.
