IIUM Rector Meets Maldives President to Strengthen Higher Education Ties

The Rector of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Osman Bakar, paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at the President’s Office on Sunday.

According to the President’s Office, the meeting focused on enhancing academic cooperation and exploring new avenues for collaboration between the Maldives and the esteemed Malaysian institution.

During the discussion, President Dr Muizzu and Professor Emeritus Dr Osman Bakar delved into various opportunities to strengthen partnerships across diverse higher education fields, with particular emphasis on expanding PhD programmes.

President Dr Muizzu conveyed his gratitude for the continuous and invaluable support provided by IIUM to Maldivian students, acknowledging the university's significant contribution to the nation's human resource development.

Concluding the productive meeting, both parties expressed their strong mutual willingness to explore future partnerships and foster deeper cooperation, underscoring a shared commitment to advancing education and academic excellence between the Maldives and Malaysia.
