Zakat House Seeks Book Donations to Expand Islamic Library

The Maldives Zakat House has launched a new initiative, urging members of the public to donate books specifically on the topic of Zakat.

These valuable contributions are intended to enrich the collections of the Islamic Library at King Salman Mosque and the Digital Library of Zakat House, aiming to significantly enhance Islamic educational resources and raise awareness about Zakat through both traditional and digital platforms.

According to Zakat House, this initiative is a crucial step towards augmenting the existing collections of both physical and digital libraries. The primary goal is to increase the availability of comprehensive Islamic educational materials and, critically, to leverage digital platforms for broader outreach and understanding of Zakat among the Maldivian public.

Individuals and institutions wishing to contribute books can facilitate their donation by emailing information about the titles to [email protected].

This latest drive complements existing governmental efforts to expand Islamic literary resources across the nation. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs' online library currently provides Dhivehi translations of popular religious texts in addition to a wide array of books and magazines covering subjects like Islamic Aqeedah, Fiqh and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The call for donations also builds upon recent significant advancements in library development. The Saudi Arabia's Al Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud Islamic University in September made a substantial donation of 64,000 books to various Islamic libraries throughout the Maldives.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs hailed this contribution as a major step forward in the ongoing efforts to establish robust Islamic libraries in different regions of the country, further facilitating the implementation of a key presidential pledge regarding this initiative.
