President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the government's new Youth Third Space, "Zuvaanunge Vehi".
The facility is located on the site previously used as the Muleeaage’ garage. President Muizzu first announced plans to convert the space into a Youth Third Space on 18 November 2024, as part of his proposal to create a community-friendly space that addresses the space constraints for conducting youth-related activities.
The Youth Hub offers new avenues for skill development and personal growth. The centre features a dedicated space for artists, a music recording studio, and a mental well-being area known as the Happiness Lounge. A wide range of youth-focused services and opportunities is also available at the facility.
The Youth Hub has been designed as a youth-friendly and eco-friendly space that supports learning, skill-building, and social interaction. It enables young people to organise a variety of programmes, including boot camps, skill exchange sessions, virtual reality training, community art walls, interactive community hubs, workshops, and culinary events. As the facility is located near several schools, students can access the study halls using their student ID cards at no additional cost.
Following the inauguration, the President toured the stalls set up at the venue, which included displays from various local craft and skills businesses.
The President was accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed and several Cabinet ministers.
