Contractors assigned to stalled mosque development projects

Islamic Affairs Ministry on Monday assigned contractors to stalled mosque development projects in three islands.

The projects, worth over MVR 9 million, were contracted to Vimla Construction Private Limited and iNOCA Private Limited.

Islamic Affairs Minister Dr. Ahmed Ziyad said the three projects are financed through grant aid from the Saudi Arabian government.

The three mosques are to be developed in Feevah, Shaviyani Atoll, and Lhohi and Maalhendho, Noonu Atoll.

According to the Ministry, the mosques in Feevah and Maalhendhoo can accommodate prayer congregations of 504 people each while the mosque in Lhohi will have a capacity of 304 worshipers.

Dr. Ziyad further said that development of 38 mosques are currently in progress in various parts of the country, adding that 15 new mosques have been completed and are ready for inauguration.
