The Maldives has moved up one place in the Henley Passport Index.
The Henley Passport Index, compiled annually by Henley & Partners, ranks the world’s passports by visa-free access, based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The Maldives is currently ranked 52nd out of 101 passports in the Henley Passport Index, retaining its position as the strongest passport in South Asia. The Maldivian passport allows travel to 92 countries without a visa. The Maldives was ranked 53rd in the Henley Passport Index last year.
India is the second-strongest among South Asian passports, ranking 80th. Indian passport holders can travel without visa to 55 countries. Bhutan ranks third in South Asia, allowing access to 50 countries without a visa, followed by Sri Lanka, whose passport allows travel to 39 countries without a visa.
Globally, Singapore's passport, which offers on-arrival visas to 192 countries, remained the strongest passport in the index, following Japan and South Korea in the second place, and five European countries in third.
