Media village to be operationalised this year

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has revealed the development of the media village will be completed and that the village will be operationalised for media outlets use by the end of this year.

The development of the city developed where the media village, youth hub and medical college will be situated will be completed by the end of the year. Once completed, the operations of the hotel will be handed over to World of Business Pvt Ltd. The company handed over the development of the city hotel in August of last year.

During the Presidential Address, President Dr Muizzu shed light to the current challenges faced by media organisations saying that these outlets are forced to pay steep rent prices for office space and must rent out studios to record its contents. As such, the government has paved the way for these outlets to rent out office spaces at a lower cost, ensuring financial security to media outlets and space further space to develop its business, the President said. He highlighted that the work on the media village is proceeding swiftly.

He disclosed that the media village being constructed in Hulhumale’ Phase 1 has 34 spaces, and that the media village will be open for use to media by the mid of this year.

As part of a strategic plan for national development, the city hotel being developed under “Manhattan Grand” will have three to five floors dedicated to four of President Dr Mohamed Muizz’s pledge. As such, a youth center, media village, medical college and a heritage college is set to constructed in the Hotel.
