Youth Minister Iruthisham Adam on Saturday announced plans to hold an additional fair this year targeting youth. The Government is committed to facilitate youth empowerment and development, which is also an electoral pledge of the Yameen administration, it said. Under this pledge, the Government had been conducting fairs targeting young people, providing employment and higher education opportunities.
Citing the success of the youth fairs held previously, Youth Minister Iruthisham Adam reiterated that the Government accords high priority to the empowerment and development of youth, as per its electoral pledge. She said “the Government aspires to build a generation of responsible citizens, by providing them with higher education, training and jobs.”
Earlier this year, the Youth Ministry held the Youth Challenge and two editions of the Kissaru Fair. Iruthisham noted that both fairs had been extremely successful.
Speaking about the Kissaru Fair, Iruthisham said over 1,300 youth attended Kissaru fairs held in Addu City and Mahibadhoo Island, Alifu Dhaalu Atoll, providing jobs, internships and training opportunities. The Youth Challenge, held in August, attracted over 8,200 visitors. The Youth Ministry is now preparing to host another edition of Kissaru Fair later this year, Iruthisham added.
