MBBC initiates usage of official logo

Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission (MBBC), a recently established body mandated with regulating and developing the broadcasting sector in the Maldives has officially begun using its official logo.

The commission began utilising its official logo from the 3 March. The logo is designed to symbolise the purpose and mission of the body, according to the commission. The commission’s logo is divided into 4 parts.

MBBC stated that the quotation marks in the Commission's logo symbolise freedom of expression, while the broadcasting waves represent the rapid dissemination of information. The Commission further noted that the logo's four distinct elements signify the media's role as the 'fourth estate' of the state. Additionally, the incorporation of the three Thaana letters, ‘Meemu', 'Baa', and 'Kaafu' reflects the high priority the Commission accords to Maldivian language and culture.

The MMBC emphasised that alongside the unveiling of this new logo, the Commission's primary objective is to strengthen its efforts in upholding media freedom in the Maldives and fostering a culture of responsible journalism.
