Minister of Finance and Treasury Ahmed Munavaru said on Saturday that five more regional airports will be developed across the country within the next three years. He made the announcement at the inaugural ceremony of BML Guesthouse Maldives Conference.
The Minister highlighted the difficulties faced by guesthouse operators in making travel arrangements for their guests.
He said the government was working to develop more regional airports to ease the difficulties faced by guesthouse operators and other small and medium sized businesses.
Presently, 11 airports are operated across the country, while a new regional airport is under construction in Kudahuvadhoo of Dhaalu Atoll.
The Regional Airports said Kudahuvadhoo Airport would be completed later this year or early next year.
