Road Development Corporation (RDC) has been awarded contracts for road modernisation projects in Baarah and Muraidhoo, both in Haa Alif Atoll.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure by the State Minister, Hassan Rasheed. RDC’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Nazeem, signed on behalf of the corporation.
Under the Baarah project, the outer main road and the main ring road will be upgraded. The project is scheduled for completion within three years and five months. Baarah has a population of around 1,000 residents and is considered to have a relatively large landmass compared with most inhabited islands in the Maldives.
In Muraidhoo, commonly used roads will be asphalted and upgraded to modern standards. This project is expected to be completed within two years and 10 days. Muraidhoo has a population of approximately 500 residents.
