Usfasgandu skate park to be developed in multiple phases

The new skate park in the Usfasgandu area of Malé will be further developed over multiple phases, Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu has said.

Speaking to PSM News following the opening of the skate park, the minister said the ministry will closely monitor the facility to ensure it remains in good condition over the long term. While Skate Maldives has been assigned to manage the park, its maintenance, as well as any renovations and upgrades, will be handled by the Sports Ministry.

According to the minister, the government plans to introduce additional facilities and improvements based on the needs and aspirations of skaters. He noted that the park already includes separate areas for skateboarding and inline skating, built to a high standard, and added that further upgrades and resources have been included in future plans.

Construction of the skate park began with the laying of its foundation stone on 2 October last year. The project was carried out under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC).
