The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has successfully completed the sheet piling for 143 metres of the inner seawall along the ongoing Bodu Thakurufaanu Magu road development project in the northern part of the capital city.
This milestone marks the completion of the first phase of sheet piling work within the current construction zone, stretching from the Official Jetty to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal.
MTCC, overseeing the project, confirmed that construction is progressing across four active segments of Phase 1, which aims to modernise and expand a total of 700 metres of roadway.
The newly designed stretch will feature expanded road space, a comprehensive drainage system, tarmac surfacing, pavement, and street lighting to meet modern urban infrastructure standards. Sidewalk construction and additional sheet piling are also underway, following the same engineering approach used in previously completed sections.
The 380-metre stretch of Bodu Thakurufaanu Magu from Izzuddin Jetty to North Harbour has already been completed and opened for public use, significantly improving traffic flow and pedestrian accessibility.
