Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Dawah, and Guidance, Sheikh Salih bin Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad Al-Shaykh on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
During the meeting held at the King Saud Guest Palace, President and the Minister of Islamic Affairs held discussions on greater cooperation in the field of Islamic education and between institutions of both countries. In this call, Minister of Islamic Affairs of Saudi Arabia, expressed keen interest to engage with the Maldives Islamic University to assess and identify resources required by the University. Moreover, the Saudi Islamic Minister pledged support in resource development of the Islamic University of Maldives and expressed continued hope for collaboration and cooperation between Maldives and Saudi Arabia.
A high-level delegation that includes Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim, Minister of Economic Development, Mohamed Saeed, Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. Mohamed Shainee, Minister of State, Foreign Relations, at the President’s Office, Mohamed Naseer, and Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Abdulla Hameed accompanied the President at the call.
