First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has stated that strengthening support systems is essential to ensure the wellbeing of those caring for parents and family members.
She made the remarks in a social media post shared on the occasion of the International Day of Families, observed globally on 15 May each year.
In her message, the First Lady noted that the love, care, and support provided by families remain crucial in building a resilient society and securing a brighter future. She highlighted that families today are facing new social and economic challenges, stressing the importance of strengthening systems that provide assistance and support to those caring for parents, children, and other family members.
The First Lady further stated that efforts aimed at ensuring the full development and progress of families represent an important investment in laying the foundation for a prosperous and affluent Maldives.
The International Day of Families is observed annually to highlight the importance of familial love and care, while also emphasising the need to preserve and strengthen these vital bonds.
