Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has departed for Berlin to participate in the Berlin Climate Mobility Forum 2026, where he is scheduled to speak as a keynote speaker and take part in high-level discussions on climate-induced displacement and sea-level rise.
The forum, to be held in Berlin from June 18 to 19, will bring together heads of state, senior government officials, representatives of vulnerable communities and youth innovators to address the growing challenges posed by climate-related mobility and to advance dialogue on adaptation strategies.
A key outcome of this year's gathering is expected to be the formal adoption of the Global Climate Mobility Principles, a high-level agreement aimed at supporting adaptation pathways that enable people to remain in their communities while ensuring that any necessary relocation is carried out with dignity.
The forum will also provide an opportunity for participating governments and stakeholders to outline a roadmap for translating shared commitments into practical partnerships and coordinated action.
During the visit, Vice President is scheduled to deliver an opening statement at the High-Level Segment on the Climate Mobility Principles and join a high-level panel discussion focused on protecting rights in the face of rising sea levels.
