Domestic carrier FlyMe has announced plans to increase its fleet and expand operations to new destinations.
FlyMe said efforts are being made to begin operations to new domestic destinations by June next year. To expand its operation, the carrier is planning to acquire an additional aircraft early next year.
Managing Director Rilwan Shareef said “they are aiming to acquire 5 new aircraft over the next 5 years.”
The airline, which is celebrating five years of operations this month, has also announced plans to expand its operations to neighbouring countries.
Flyme is operated by Villa Air, a subsidiary company of Villa Group.
Currently, the fleet consists of two ATR 72-500, each with a capacity of 68 passengers. In addition, the Cessna Caravan C208 branded as the Flyme ‘SEEPLANE’ with a passenger capacity of 7, operates photo flights and private charter excursions in South Ari Atoll.
FlyMe, which previously operated to several domestic destinations, now only operates between Maamingilli and Male’. The carrier downsized its operations due to financial problems.
