State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation Ltd (State Pharma) has held discussions with Villa College on training pharmacists.
According to State Pharma, the meeting focused on pharmacist training and ways in which the two institutions could work together to increase the number of young people studying in the field. They also discussed collaborating to create employment opportunities for students and graduates in the pharmaceutical sector.
The meeting further explored the possibility of working with Villa College to offer refresher courses for professionals already employed in the field.
Earlier, the company also met with representatives from the Maldives National University’s Faculty of Health Sciences to discuss broader initiatives for training professionals in the sector.
State Pharma is continuing its efforts to recruit pharmacists to meet demand across the Maldives. As part of these efforts, the company advertised more than 30 pharmacist vacancies last month.
While working to increase the number of practising pharmacists in the country, the company is also undertaking several other pharmaceutical initiatives. Among these is the development of a dedicated online portal that will enable the public to access information on all medicines available through State Pharma pharmacies, as well as identify which pharmacy stocks a particular medicine.
