The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) provided USD 3.68 million in financial assistance to persons with disabilities in July, slightly lower than the USD 3.75 million provided in June.
According to NSPA statistics, 63 new individuals were registered in the National Disability Registry in July, bringing the total number of registered persons to 15,549. NSPA provided assistance to 15,369 people during the month, amounting to USD 3.69 million.
Of those registered, 8,996 are men, and 6,553 are women. By age group, the largest number of registered individuals are between 18 and 64 years of age, accounting for 7,896 people.
Among the different disability categories recorded in the registry, physical disability accounts for the largest number of registered individuals, followed by multiple disability.
The registry includes 3,520 people with multiple disability, 1,820 with intellectual disability, 2,435 with psychological disability, 1,866 with hearing and speech disability, 1,030 with visual disability, 593 with autism, 58 with learning disability, and 4,227 with physical disability. These classifications correspond with the official categories used by NSPA's National Disability Registry.
NSPA also spent approximately USD 314,518 on treatment for 265 persons with disabilities in July. Of those who received assistance, 195 were men, and 70 were women.
Of the total, 64 people received behavioural therapy at a cost of approximately USD 77,821, while 71 received occupational therapy at a cost of approximately USD 84,306. Psychotherapy was provided to six people at a cost of approximately USD 3,035, while five people received early intervention services at a cost of approximately USD 2,218.
Speech therapy was provided to 73 people at a cost of approximately USD 84,306, while 43 people received educational therapy at a cost of approximately USD 50,132. Physiotherapy was provided to three people at a cost of approximately USD 2,591.
By age group, 256 of those who received treatment assistance were below the age of 18. Eight were between 18 and 64 years of age, while one person was aged 65 or above.
