PPM assures support for President Yameen

Ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has assured its full support for President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and his government.

In a statement issued coinciding with the party’s fifth anniversary, PPM said its “governing council, parliamentary group and all other bodies fully support the Yameen administration,” adding that it would continue to provide assistance and cooperation to the government.

The statement noted that the party, with the support of its members, had won 90% of all elections held over the past five years, and highlighted the important role played by President Yameen, who is the party’s advisor, in strengthening the party.
