Public Service Media (PSM) and Javaabu Academy have signed an agreement to promote and develop the Dhivehi language using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, including the use of AI to recreate the voices of iconic characters and programme presenters.
The agreement was signed on behalf of PSM by its Managing Director Ahmed Shakeeb, while Javaabu Academy was represented by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Jailam.
According to Jailam, Javaabu Academy is a tech company that transforms concepts into platforms that people can use. While the company has already introduced text-to-speech service through its DhivehiGPT platform, the service will be enhanced in collaboration with PSM through introducing popular voices, he said. He also explained that AI will allow the voices of iconic characters and programme presenters to be recreated and used in advertisements and narration.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Shakeeb said the agreement will give new life to valuable works and intellectual property in PSM’s archives, including the voices of former artists. He said the project will help revive memories of late artists, and benefit both PSM and Javaabu Academy.
