There are more than 800 proposals that have been submitted to the Maldives Expo 2026, with the submission deadline closed on September 10th.
Business Center Corporation (BCC) Assistant Director, Strategic Development and Regional Services, Areesha Moosa stated that as the deadline closed more than 800 entries were submitted. She made the remarks during the PSM News “Raajje Miadhu” programme. This number represents four times more than the number of participants last year. She said that the most applicants came from individual participants.
BCC Assistant General Manager Mohamed Eeman Ahmed stated that there are more than 1,000 contributors to this year’s expo. Eeman stated that this year seven districts are to participate, increased from the five districts that participated last year.
Eeman stated that last year there was a special district for international participants and that platform was created where Maldivian entrepreneurs can connect with the foreign entrepreneurs. He further stated that this year the BCC is aiming to use the expo to help integrate Maldivian businesses in the global market.
This year participants are allowed to submit their applications across 73 different categories. The BCC stated that there are applications to all the categories. The Maldivian Expo is a platform that allows Maldivian entrepreneurs to market their goods and services.
The biggest change brought to this year’s expo is the age limit for participants. This year participants have to be above the age of 13.
The expo allows entrepreneurs to advertise their business, as well as different districts to promote their goods and services. During this year’s Maldives Expo goods and services from 16 different fields and across 73 different categories would be advertised.
Registration is now open for the cultural competition to be held as part of the expo. The competition aims to revive and promote the richness of Maldivian culture, provide opportunities to showcase artistic talent in cultural performances and encourage greater competitiveness in the sector.
