The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, in collaboration with the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), has launched a three-day training workshop on the Maldives Energy Efficiency Guideline for Buildings.
The workshop, being held at Meerumaa Hall from 29 September to 1 October, brings together 40 professionals from the architecture, engineering and construction sectors.
The training is being delivered by energy experts from Deloitte Maldives and covers practical aspects of sustainable building design, including thermal comfort, renewable energy systems and building energy modelling using eQUEST, tailored to the Maldives’ local climate conditions.
The workshop was officially opened by State Minister at the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy Dr Muaviyath Mohamed.
Speaking at the opening, Dr Muaviyath highlighted the importance of incorporating energy-efficient practices from the early stages of building design and construction, noting that decisions made at these stages can have a lasting impact on national energy consumption.
He said the Maldives Energy Efficiency Guideline for Buildings provides technical guidance for improving energy efficiency in buildings, while emphasising the importance of ensuring that professionals in the construction sector have the knowledge and practical skills to apply the guidelines effectively.
The workshop aims to strengthen technical capacity among industry professionals and support the wider adoption of energy-efficient practices in building design, construction and use.
