Pakistan donates medical equipment to Maldives

Government of Pakistan has donated medical equipment worth over USD 47,000 to the Maldivian Health sector.

A ceremony was held at the Health Ministry to accept the equipment, which includes portable X-ray machines. The portable x-ray machines were donated by the Pakistani embassy in order to assist Maldives strengthen the health sector. The portable x-ray machines are to be used in Dhaalu Atoll Kudahuvadhoo Hospital and Laamu Gan Regional Hospital.

During the ceremony Health Minister Abdulla Nazim handed over a certificate of appreciation to the Pakistan Ambassador to Maldives, Admiral (Rtd.) Syed Khawar Ali Shah.

The Minister and Ambassador also signed agreement to strengthen Maldivian health sector through assistance from the government of Pakistan. Under the agreement Pakistan will recruit medical doctors to work in Maldives, provide human resource development by providing trainings for Maldivian doctors from recognized institutions in Pakistan.
