Palestinian Ambassador to Maldives, Dr. Anwar Al-Agha has said that all countries and international institutions should support the elected government of Maldives in its efforts to develop the country. The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand, Philippines, and Maldives made this statement while speaking to PSM News during the official reception held on Thursday night to mark the 52nd Independence Day of Maldives.
The Palestinian Ambassador stated that he has the full confidence that the current administration of Maldives would overcome all hurdles, despite efforts of some individuals to sabotage the development of the country.
"It comes in a challenging situation, that all of us has to be with the Maldivian government, the official government, with the Maldivian people, to join you in developing this country. We have seen that the situation is stable, despite the fact that there is some situation tension here and there from some other people who are trying to sabotage the country. But we are still very much optimistic that the government and, his Excellency President Yameen is a wise man, so he will overcome all these issues and will see much more stability and development," the Palestinian Ambassador said.
Ambassador Al-Agha said that the people of Maldives deserves the development being brought to the country by President Yameen. Referring to the strong bilateral relations between Maldives and Palestine, the ambassador said that all Muslims should unite and work together.
"People of Maldives deserves the development, we have to enhance the relations. When it comes to the bilateral relations between Maldives and Palestine, we are very much proud of the historic relations. Maldives is a very strong supporter of the Palestinian cause. And we thank his Excellency, the government, the people of Maldives for supporting us. We are all Muslims and we should really be together always, to help each other," according to the Ambassador.
He expressed hope that more Maldivians will visit Palestine and wished success for the Maldivian government and people, in further developing the country.
