Philippines Ambassador pays a courtesy call on Foreign Minister

Ambassador of Philippines to Maldives, Vicente Viventcio T. Bandillo paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim.

At the meeting which was held at the Foreign Ministry, Minister Asim and Ambassador Vicente discussed ways to further enhance existing bilateral relations between the countries and exchanged ideas to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest especially in the international arena. The Ambassador reassured his commitment to work with the Government of Maldives and strengthen the relations between the two countries.

In an exclusive interview to PSM News, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of strengthening diplomatic bonds between both nations, in sectors such as tourism, trade, labor, Immigration, health cooperation and sport. The Philippines Ambassador also highlighted that over the years; the number of Pilipino workers in Maldives has seen a gradual rise and has now reached over 3000.

Ambassador Vicente visited Maldives to take part in the 52nd Independence Day festivities. He is the 10th Philippine Ambassador to be accredited to the Maldives, following the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1975.
