90% of islands have access to sea ambulance

Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has cited that 90% of the programme conducted to establish ambulance services in all inhabitant islands have been completed. The Health Minister made the remarks while speaking at the opening of the Training Workshop on Integrated Package of Essential Non-communicable Diseases Intervention.

The four day workshop on Training Workshop on Integrated Package of Essential Non-communicable Diseases Intervention commenced in Male' City. The workshop is intended to increase awareness of health professionals on preventing and intervention of non-communicable diseases, which is a major obstacle faced in the health sector.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim stated that the government is working tirelessly to improve health services provided in individual islands. The Health Minister said that improving health services given in islands are a major component in the target to further boost and improve the overall health sector of the country.

Speaking to the media about the four day workshop, Senior Medical Officer of Hulhumale' Hospital, Dr. Aishath Aroona said that discussions on health guidelines and techniques relating intervention of non-communicable diseases will be held during the workshop. According to her, this year the workshop is intended for health professionals working in Male' region, but hoped to expand to a nationwide programme next year.

The workshop is attended by health professional working in hospitals, health centres and health related organisations in the Male' region.
