Maldives Customs Services has reported record amounts of goods imported to and exported from Maldives in September.
The amount of goods imported to Maldives increased by 10% while goods exported form the country recorded a 13% increase. According to statistics published by the Maldives Customs Services, on September 2016, goods imported to Maldives amounted to MVR2.7 billion while this year it amounted to MVR3 billion.
Last month, United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the country from which Maldives imported the most number of goods amounting to 23% of total imports. Goods imported from Singapore and China amounts to 11% of all imports last month.
A total of goods worth MVR141 million were exported from Maldives in September 2016 while it amounted to MVR161 million in September this year. Maldives mainly exports fish products to foreign countries.
It is noteworthy that gradual increases are experienced month by month while the government of the Maldives works towards improving the business sector of the country.
