Ambassador of Maldives to United Kingdom and UAE Ahmed Shiaan has stated that Maldives being amongst the global top tourist destination, European countries are expressing keen interest in conducting direct flights to Maldives.
Addressing the press at the World Travel Market (WTM), Ambassador Ahmed Shiaan revealed that one of the largest airlines of Spain is at the final stages of conducting direct flights to Maldives. On this note, Ambassador Shiaan highlighted that the difficulties faced by Spanish tourists to travel to Maldives would be eased with the commencement of flights by the Spanish airline. The Ambassador said that a lot of European airlines are keen to commence direct flights to Maldives.
European countries are ranked as the top tourist arrival region to Maldives. Spain is amongst the fastest progressing tourist markets to Maldives. Spanish tourist arrival has grossed over 18 thousand by September 2017, which is a 10 percent increase compared to the same period of last year, as per the latest statistics of Ministry of Tourism.
