Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has called on all Maldivians to work together to prevent any dengue outbreaks this year.
All Maldivians must take up their individual responsibility to prevent any such outbreaks, Health Minister Abdulla Nazim stated addressing the ceremony held to inaugurate the national dengue prevention campaign. During his speech, the Minister expressed that effects of dengue outbreak were controlled last year. Noting that prevention and control of dengue solely depend on effective mosquito control measures, Minister Nazim added that collective efforts of individuals and government authorities are crucial.
The one day campaign was initiated by Health Protection Agency, as January is recorded as a month which sees an increase in Dengue-related cases. The campaign was held by the agency in association with Housing Development Corporation and World Health Organisation.
