MIRA collection centre in Addu city registers the highest income

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has revealed the highest income generated from taxation procedures in 2017 was from the collection centre in Addu city.

In an exclusive interview with PSM News, Assistant Commissioner General, Enforcement Department of MIRA Fathimath Ameeza stated that a total of 12 collection centres of the authority have been established by the end of last year and cited that MIRA aims to enhance the quality provided with the establishment of such collection centres. Continuing on the Assistant Commissioner General said the collection centres have been established in islands of Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, Kaafu, Dhaalu, Laamu, Faafu, Baa, Thaa and Gaafu Dhaalu atoll.

In addition, MIRA has also established collection centers in Addu and Fuvahmulah city. Fathimath Ameeza revealed that the authority has planned to expand its scope in additional atolls this year. A total of about USD 986 million were received in the form of state income from taxation procedures which amounts to about 80 percent of the total income for 2017.
