Pizza Hut and KFC to open outlets in Maldives

Pizza Hut and KFC prepares to open their first outlets in Maldives.

Pizza Hut is an American restaurant chain and international franchise founded in 1958 which is known for its Italian-American cuisine menu including pizza and pasta, as well as side dishes and desserts. Pizza Hut has over 16,000 outlets worldwide and is all set to open its first outlet in Maldives at the Male' Grand building.

Meanwhile, KFC is an American fast food restaurant chain that specialises in fried chicken. It is world's second-largest restaurant chain with almost 20,000 outlets in 123 countries and territories.

In addition, Burger King plans to open its second outlet in Maldives at the Hulhumale' ferry terminal in the capital city. Burger King opened its first outlet in 2013 at Velana International Airport. Furthermore, an outlet of Coffee Club is also in line to open in Male' city.

In 2013, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom assumed office pledging to open the country for investors, inclusive of all sectors. In this regard, the administration has paved a lenient and profitable environment for foreign investors. The past four years has seen numerous investors venturing in to Maldivian market in industries such as tourism, health and construction.

Along with the rapid increase in development and the stable growth of the economy of the country, major food franchise brands have also showed keen interest in expanding their businesses in Maldives. Under the strategic action plan by President Yameen, major outlets of famous international franchises such as Barista, Calorie Counter and Pizza Company has already opened its outlets in the capital city.
