Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has announced it made fish purchases of more than 45,000 metric tonnes last year.
MIFCO made fish purchases of almost USD 56 million in 2017. MIFCO bought fish worth over USD 38 million in 2015, while the amount decreased in 2016.
CEO of MIFCO Adlee Ismail noted the company aims to increase the revenue of fishermen and bought double the amount of fish in 2017. The company revealed it has the capacity to process 65 metric tonnes of fish per day and the capacity to store 150,000 canned fish boxes.
