Economic Ministry extends business hours in Maldives

Ministry of Economic Development has decided to extend the operating hours of petrol sheds, cafés, restaurants and shops in Maldives.
The change was brought due the numerous changes brought to the timings allocated for the transportation of goods, revealed Minister of State for Economic Development Adam Thaufeeq on a programme aired on PSM News. Furthermore, the State Minister said the government decided to extend the hours due to change in livelihoods of Maldivians.
Following the changes, petrol sheds will be closed at 0000 hours and cafés and restaurants at 0100 hours. The Ministry is now carrying out administrative work to extend the operating hours of some businesses to 24 hours, said State Minister Thaufeeq.
The Ministry is formulating comprehensive guidelines and regulations for businesses to operate for 24 hours, according to Thaufeeq.
