Ballot box to be placed with more than 200 registered voters

Elections Commission of Maldives has announced the criteria to station ballot boxes in other countries for the upcoming Presidential Election.
Ballot boxes will be stationed in countries where 200 or more voters are registered, according to the Ballot Box Stationing Regulation of Presidential Election 2018 compiled by the commission. The regulation also states ballot boxes will only be stationed in countries with an established Maldivian Embassy. Ballot boxes, however, can be stationed in countries where a Maldivian Embassy is not established if necessary arrangements are made from the country.
Furthermore, Elections Commission will station ballot boxes in resorts and industrial areas if 100 or more voters register. The regulation further highlights officials must be arranged from the country or resort or industrial area if ballot boxes are stationed.
Moreover, member of Elections Commission Ahmed Akram has been appointed as the spokesperson of the electoral body of Maldives, as part of its preparations for the upcoming Presidential Election.
