SJ Construction contracted to establish sewerage facility in Madaveli

Ministry of Environment and Energy has contracted SJ Construction Private Limited to establish a sewerage facility in Madaveli of Gaafu Dhaalu atoll. The agreement was signed by Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim and Director of SJ Construction Shihad Ibrahim. The company was contracted to complete the project within 12 months at a cost of USD 974,000.
Speaking at the function, Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim highlighted the achievements of the government in providing Maldivians with water and sewerage facilities. Sewerage facilities were available just in 31 islands, including Male' city in 2013, stated Minister Thoriq adding the current administration has established sewerage systems in 21 islands in the past 4 years.
The Minister further noted establishment of sewerage systems in an additional 41 islands are currently underway.
